Window/P-Tac Framing & Installation

This photo depicts what I mean by "flying frames" when referring to the installation process.
Here you can see that the telehandler has an extension installed. My operator picks up the frame with a strap wrapped around a temporary 2x10 fixed to the frame with screws for tight fit, and double-head nails for added safety to protect from any snapped screws.
The telehandler was forced to pick up this frame backwards on the ground so the frame would be spun around before install - getting the strap out of the way prior to landing.
In this photo, two of my team members are installing a frame on their own. They're instructing my stepson who stands on the inside of the room (tied off to an anchor point with a fall-restriction setup as this is a 2nd floor install - fall arrest was acceptable for 4th - 6th floors) on how to remain safe, while also calmly explaining what installation steps will come next.
The telehandler operator was invaluable on this project for efficient, safe, pinpoint accuracy. The temporary 2x10 you see fixed across the window opening was used to lift the frame into place. Once in place, the operator would tilt the forks upward to ensure the frame doesn't topple forward onto the team member inside the room.
For 1st and 2nd floor installs, straps were deemed to be unnecessary as the telehandler had more control over the frame with tilt of forks and a safer sight-line of the joists inside the room.
There were no accidents during this process.
Here, you can see the pre-fabricated window wall frames that were strapped to a telehandler and flown into place using hand signals and a radio.
Two team members would typically be installing from an Aerial Work Platform (Genie) and another receiver from inside the room (tied-off of course).
The team aspect of this project task was intoxicating and we often went home vibrating with adrenaline and an immense feeling of satisfaction.
In the summer of 2023, I had the pleasure of getting my stepson a job. After spending most of the summer with the skilled laborers, he joined my crew for a few weeks. Here, I'm creating a video for him to show to his mother.
